Henry and Christian Filter won race one for the Don Q and Ernesto Rodriguez won race 2 and after day 1 leads the Don Q Rum Regatta in Miami. The day started out very light with a 1 hour wait for a decent breeze from the NW. Finally we got a breeze of about 7-8 K and a race was started. The right side paid off big and Ernesto had a good lead only to to be run down by the Filters at the down wind finish in a dying breeze. Race 2 saw the winds switch around to the more traditional easterly/south easterly breeze in the 8 K range. The left paid off on the first beat.

We are looking for more breeze tomorrow out of the east which will produce some exciting Snipe racing. After the racing we will have the traditional Don Q Rum party and dinner.
