Notice of Race

ORGANISING AUTHORITY

The regatta is organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), in collaboration with Boat International Media (BIM).

1. THE RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the following:

(a) the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing;

(b) the SCIRA rules.

2. ADVERTISING

2.1 Boats may display advertising in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code.

Boats shall display Event Advertising in compliance with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code, and as detailed in the Sailing Instructions.

2.2 Boats will be required to display the following throughout the period starting one hour afterthe completion of registration and ending one hour after the finish of the last race of the regatta:

2.3 The Organising Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of onboard video cameras for the official television production and/or a tracking system.

2.4 Boats intending to display advertising during the regatta shall state in the entry form the natureof such advertising.

2.5 Boats are responsible to inform advertisers and sponsors that no activities advertising any brand will be permitted ashore within the Porto Cervo Marina Area without the consent inwriting of the Organizing Authority obtained before the start of the Regatta.

3. Entries

3.1 Entries shall be made on the Official Entry Form (Annex 1) and shall be receivedby the Organizing Authority by 1st May 2009 together with

- An entry fee of 150 Euro

3.2 In the absolute discretion of the Organizing Authority, late entries may be accepted after 1st May.

3.3 The entry fee may be paid by Credit Card (VISA or MASTERCARD) or by bank transfer asstated in detail in the entry form.

4 SCHEDULE

4.1 Registration, Measurement and Inspection

4.4 Alteration of Programme

The Organising Authority and the Race Committee reserve the right to modify the above programme according to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

5. Measurement

5.1 Boats shall be available for inspection not later than 1000 hours on the 9th June. For boats already in Porto Cervo, inspections may be carried out on 8th June.

5.2 Boats may be inspected and/or check measured at any reasonable time before or during the regatta.

5.3 Boats shall only be measured by measurers previously approved by the Organizing Authority.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

7 SCORING

7.1 The Low Point System Appendix A shall apply except that there will be no discard.

7.2 Four races are scheduled with no more than one race per day.

7.3 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

8. INTERNATIONAL JURY

Protests will be heard by an International Jury whose ruling shall be final.

9. TROPHIES AND PRIZES

The Boat International Silver Jubilee Cup for the best classified boat overall.

In addition special trophies will be awarded to the top ten boats.

10. INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance.

11. DISCLAIMER

Competitors agree to be bound by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)2009/2012, by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race. Competitors agree to take any and allresponsibility for the nautical qualities of their boat, the rigging, the crew’s ability and the safetyequipment. Competitors also agree to take any and all responsibility for damages caused to thirdpersons or their belongings, to themselves or to their belongings, ashore and at sea as aconsequence of their participation in the regatta, relieving of any responsibility Boat International Media, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and all persons or sponsors involved in the organization underwhatever qualification and to accept full responsibility for the behaviour and dress of the boat’s crew, representatives and guests.Competitors are to be acquainted with ISAF RRS Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: “The responsibility for aboat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”.

In any case, competitors agree that the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Boat International Media, theSponsors and their agents, have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others, or forthe loss or damage to any vessel or property.

12 MEDIA RIGHTS

Competitors grant the Organizing Authority and the Sponsors the unrestricted right and permission touse the name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or theboat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to Press and TV advertisements or Internet), for either editorial or advertisingpurposes or to be used in press information; in this respect, competitors’ names and any biographical material of themselves may also be used or reproduced in any way known. As part of the registrationprocess, each individual participating crew member will be required to sign a declaration acceptingthis waiver of rights.
